This workshop, or series* of workshops, focuses on apps, tools, and features found within the Google Workspace for Education productivity suite. Google basics are covered as well as using Google Drive and the core apps (Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Forms). Advanced topics such as templates, add ons, using offline, and converting file-types are covered with a few "side trips" to other tools including Maps, Translator, Calculator, and Jamboard and more. Main topics for a series include:

Google Drive and Docs. Topics will include the difference in account options as well as finding and using the apps within Drive. Other subjects may include creating accounts for students, organizing folders, uploading folders and files, and creating and sharing files. Collaboration in real time, as well as Keep integration, voice typing, and other features in Docs or other apps can also be explored.

Google Core Apps. Topics may include Google Slides, Forms, Sheets and Draw. Creating presentations, online tutorials and lessons, images, quizzes, polls, group projects, along with productivity tips are all covered using the Google’s apps. Advanced share options as well as Shared Drives can also be presented (dependent on account types).

The Tools. Topics can include any of the Google tools not contained within Drive OR a more targeted advanced session on a specific app (i.e., Jamboard, Sites). Introductions to tools like Classroom and Google Sites, Gmail, Calendar, Maps, and others may be included.

Prerequisites: All participants must have basic computer skills and know their login information for a public Google (@gmail.com) or Google Workspace for Education (@district.org) account.

(*) This topic may be scheduled as a series of workshops where each builds upon the last or customized to only include specific apps and topics.

An OTAN Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to those that have pre-registered and attend at least 75% of the scheduled time.

OTAN workshops may be requested, customized, and scheduled by qualifying adult education agencies for their staff as targeted professional development.

OTAN workshops may be conducted as a "hands-on”, where participants are asked to provide their own devices, as “presentations” where a product or ideas are introduced, or as a discussion where all are encouraged to participate in a conversation around a specific idea or topic.

The desired outcome of every OTAN workshop is that participants will have a working understanding of the application or topics discussed and modeled.
