Session 2-Community of Practice (CoP) Supporting Student Transitions to Postsecondary Education and the Workforce

Name Session 2-Community of Practice (CoP) Supporting Student Transitions to Postsecondary Education and the Workforce
Start 12/12/2023 12:00:00
End 12/12/2023 16:00:00
Description Successful postsecondary and workforce transition can change the life trajectories of adult learners. In addition, research shows that adult learners' educational attainment benefits their families, children, and the local economy. However, recent statewide data indicate we have a tremendous opportunity for improvement. By strengthening support services, program structures, and local partnerships, adult education agencies can facilitate adult learners’ journey through the transition and support persistence through their pathway. This module will examine examples of effective partnerships and new initiatives and best practices for impactful services for adult learners’ post-secondary and workforce transitions. A strong emphasis is placed on practical implementation tools and processes for and within consortia. To register for this CoP, click here.
Goals This training is for the members of the Greater Opportunities through Adult Learning (GOAL) Consortium and the Monterey Peninsula Community College District (AE Consortium). Each individual member of the consortia needs to register; group registrations cannot be accommodated. Attend both face-to-face (F2F) sessions. F2F Session Dates: Tuesdays, November 21, and December 12 at 12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The registration deadline is November 9, 2023. Notification of acceptance will occur by November 13, 2023. Training begins in Moodle on Monday, November 13, and ends on Monday, December 18, 2023. There is no registration fee to participate; CALPRO professional development opportunities are available to all California Adult Education Program (CAEP) agencies and employees.
Location 6500 Soquel Drive, Aptos 95003. Meeting Room: 1602.
Facilitator The goal of this CoP is to support adult learners’ postsecondary and workforce transitions by building consortia and adult education program staff’s capacity to implement evidence-based practices that facilitate the transitions, including identifying ways to enhance support services, program structures, and local partnerships. This module provides tools to cultivate a stronger understanding of the areas in which there are opportunities to provide greater support for adult learners’ successful postsecondary and workforce transitions.
