Session 2 - Communities of Practice: Success for All Learners through Equity (L.A.C.C. and online)

Name Session 2 - Communities of Practice: Success for All Learners through Equity (L.A.C.C. and online)
Start 6/7/2022 13:30:00
End 6/7/2022 16:30:00
Description This blended CoP incorporates both collaborative work (online in Moodle) and two 3-hour in-person sessions. Equity and cultural competence are important aspects of creating a fair and equitable educational environment for learners. Adult education often serves marginalized populations that either have not had the opportunity to complete their education as youth or were not successful and perhaps not served equitably in the K12 public education system. Many school districts, colleges, libraries and community organizations have done significant work on addressing the issues of equity. This professional development module takes some of these concepts and applies them to adult education. Intended audience: Agencies are strongly encouraged to apply in teams of 3-5--including at least one program administrator, one instructor, and one front office student support services staff member-- in order to support their program in implementing what they learn and improving their equity practices. Training begins in Moodle May 3, 2022 and ends June 21, 2022.
Goals CALPRO provides professional development services to adult educators from California Adult Education funded agencies. There is no registration fee to participate. This community of practice is hosted by Los Angeles City College and is intended to serve the Los Angeles region. Agency teams of 3-5 are strongly recommended, though not required, for this training, with each team ideally consisting of at least one administrator, one instructor and one front office student support services staff member. Each individual member of an agency team needs to register. Group registrations are not permitted. Additional agency teams and individual participants from neighboring districts or regions may be admitted on a space-available basis. Attend both live sessions. Session Dates: May 17, 2022, 1:30 4:30pm and June 7, 2022, 1:30-4:30pm. Registration deadline is April 26, 2022. Notification of acceptance will occur by April 27, 2022.
Location Los Angeles City College and Online 855 N. Vermont Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90029
